この機械は何のためのなの？
What's this machine for?
What is for?”で文脈によって多少調整していますが「〜の目的は何ですか?」という意味
物の使用目的を聞くときによく使われる表現
ネイティブが普通に話すとisは省路されて"What's”となります
この前置詞forは「目的」を表ますのでシンプルに表現することができます。
"What is the purpose of this?”と言ってもよいですが今回のフレーズのほうが会話ではより一般的です。
